DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhancing the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD seeks a Heating and Air Conditioning Leader to join its Facilities Management & Development team.
The Heating and Air Conditioning Leader will:
- Schedule and assign daily work assignments for repairs and installations.
- Meets with contractors to obtain bids on Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems and explains the scope of the project, researches equipment capabilities.
- Interacts with crafts and trades personnel to complete complex work orders.
- Collaborates with assigned repair personnel to discuss site-specific HVAC problems and make recommendations.
- Reviews completed work orders, cost sheets, and content of repair and maintenance jobs.
- Will acquire or procure materials through various procedures and entities, warehouse, competitive bidding purchase orders, or P-card purchases.
- Will monitor system operations to determine corrective action, improve performance, identify problem areas in repairs/ new construction, and adjust the HVAC system.
- Must become proficient in various computer programs: Excel, Word, Kronos, SAP and web-based remote access HVAC programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Specialized training in principles, procedures, practices, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of experience in the installation, service and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems are required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
HVAC certification - REQUIRED
EPA Universal certification - REQUIRED
PREFERENCES
- Valid Texas driver's license
