Definition
This is a full-time (Administrative Support Workers) position in the Development Services Department, Permits and Inspections Division. An individual in this position will process and respond to customer requests for permits and similar City services. Reporting relationship: Permit Services Supervisor
Examples of Work
Permit Service Representative I:
- Provide customer service by answering phones; provide information as requested; collect and process payments; respond to requests for information;
- Open and close permit lobby; welcome visitors; receive and process plans and applications;
- Perform clerical duties including but not limited to data entry; create and maintain project files; fax or email information; and run various reports;
- Prepare and issue permits and licenses upon approval;
- Process electrical utility releases; balance cash receipts;
- Prepare completed files and plans for document retention;
- Perform other related duties as assigned;
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
- Schedule and coordinate pre-construction meetings;
- Provide support and assistance to Permit Service Representatives I, as assigned;
Education, Experience, or Certification
Permit Service Representative I High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate required; Permit Service Representative II: Two (2) years professional experience in a government permit granting agency or closely related field; a Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council (ICC); and bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
