Definition
The City of Missouri City is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Financial Services Department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have a strong work ethic, while providing technical support to the department in the Treasury Division. The Accounting Technician reports to the Treasury Manager.
Examples of Work
- Processes accounts receivable billings; false alarm billings; refunds and credit adjustments; file complaints for non-compliance in Municipal Court; refer customers to the collection agency for nonpayment; collect Non-Sufficient Fund (NSF) items; solid waste and other miscellaneous billings
- Processes Tax Deposits from Fort Bend County and Harris County Appraisal Districts
- Monthly reconciliations and house count reports for Solid Waste residents
- Assists in the processing of Cry wolf daily online payments by checking, preparing and balancing Cry wolf daily reports to daily bank deposit
- Provides information to customers as requested; communicate with customers; research issues; and resolve complaints;
- Assists with projects, such as maintaining accuracy of customer accounts and balances.
- Prepares special reports to management, including audit schedules and public inquiries; document and update the policy and procedures manual;
- Completes departmental related projects as assigned such as directing call; providing information as requested; and assisting with special projects as assigned; perform other related duties as assigned;
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
- An Associate's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- One (1) year of relevant professional experience is required.
