Definition
The city of Missouri City is currently seeking a full -time paralegal to join the city’s Legal Division to aid in providing legal services in partnership with the city Attorney’s. The ideal candidate will Support the mission, vision, credo, goals, and code of ideals service, professionalism, integrity, respect, innovation, and teamwork of the City of Missouri City and the Legal Division.
Examples of Work
- Drafts and reviews contracts, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, policies, procedures, and similar documents.
- Conducts Legal Research.
- Manages time sensitive documents and requests.
- Assists in the coordination and preparation of items for consideration by various boards, commissions and the City Council.
- Performs legal work in a variety of areas of municipal law, including, budget and fiscal management; constitutional law, economic development, elections, voting rights, ethics professionalism, labor and employment, land use, and legislative consulting.
- Subject to 24-hour recall (i.e., advise City Council and staff during natural disasters)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, or Certification
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Texas Paralegal Certificate is required.
- Experience in Municipal Government is preferred.
- Experience with public information requests and contract drafting is preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
