The City of Sugar Land is seeking a part-time Meter Reader (Temporary position) in the Public Works Department.

As a Meter Reader you will, read and record water meters; report abnormal meter conditions or usage patterns to Utilities Customer Service for repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read water meters in accordance with an assigned schedule based on routes
- Use cell phone app to record water meter reads
- Performs reread of meter reads for suspected high, low, or negative consumption.
- Programs existing Meter Transmission Units (MTUs)
- Ensure accuracy of readings and upkeep of the meter, meter box, and meter box lids
- Examine meters for signs of tampering and reports leaking, malfunctioning, or damaged meters, registers, and meter boxes.
- Clean dirt or mud from meters boxes to ensure meters can be read
- Performs other duties or project assignments as required by the Director of Utilities

Formal Education:
- High School diploma, or GED equivalent
Relatable Work Experience:
- Prior experience reading residential and commercial water meters preferred
Training (License and/or Certification):
- Valid Texas Driver’s License Class C
