The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Intake and Adoption Specialist in the Animal Services Department. Why Should You Join Our Team? We pay our Intake and Adoption Specialist a starting salary of $44,699 – $51,396 depending on your qualifications and experience. As a Intake and Adoption Specialist, you will: Provides a welcoming environment and greets guests as they arrive at the shelter. Communicates with guests in a professional and courteous manner. Screen potential animal intakes and direct out of jurisdiction residents and animals to the appropriate resources. Coordinates, schedules and reviews adoption applications and counsel potential adopters regarding animal behavior and transitioning from shelter to residential environments.Counsel potential adopters on the shelter’s sleepover program and resources in case of illness or injury to the animal. Maintain accurate records of animals on sleepovers and follow up within the appropriate timeframe to schedule adoption or return of the animal.Receives, reviews and verifies documents for accuracy including identification, proof of residence, vaccination and other records.Communicate with lost pet owners as needed to help reunite animal and owner for over-the-counter intake. Receives cash, checks and credit card payments for adoptions, donations and impound fees. Enter in both Chameleon and Tyler Cashiering to ensure accurate records. Settle credit card machine timely to ensure accurate reconciliations by Accounting. Maintain accurate change drawer and document in quarterly counts by Accounting staff.Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager or his/her designee.
