Definition
The City of Missouri City is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Financial Services Department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have a strong work ethic, while providing technical support to the department in the Accounts Payable Accounting Division. The Accounting Technician reports to the Accounting Manager.
Examples of Work
Duties include, but are not limited to
- Processes Accounts Payable by obtaining invoices; inputs data; compiles reports; prints payment checks; matches checks with payment, vouchers, and invoices; mails checks; and maintains accounts payable files.
- Maintains Accounts Payable email by reviewing, researching and routing invoices to Departments’ contact within the City; tracks invoices by documenting dates and actions taken; closes tickets once invoices are paid.
- Processes one-time cash disbursement batches to record invoices paid by ACHs and wires.
- Provides information to customers and vendors as requested; communicates with departments, researches issues; and resolves complaints;
- Processes documents and maintains Accounts Payable related procedures.
- Completes departmental related projects as assigned, such as directing calls; providing information as requested; and assisting with special projects as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
- An Associate's Degree in Finances or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- One (1) year of relevant professional experience.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are required.
