Definition
This is a full-time (Service Workers) position in the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position is responsible for supervising and leading a crew in the repair and maintenance of streets and drainage operations to ensure accurate and timely work. Reporting relationship: Streets Superintendent.
Examples of Work
- Perform administrative duties including contract administration; process work orders, procure materials and equipment as needed, assign work to crews, and ensure the appropriate safety equipment is used;
- Complete drainage maintenance; excavating ditches, cleaning and clearing drains, setting pipes, de-mucking lakes, and spreading sand;
- Repair curbs, inlet aprons and tops, pot holes, and sidewalks; sealing cracks; adjusting inlets; replacing wheelchair ramps; mud jacking streets;
- Maintain shoulders and right-of-ways; cut grass; and lay new concrete;
- Operate a variety of light and heavy-duty equipment as needed including, but not limited to, Gradall, bulldozer, track hoe, lawn mowers, back hoe, concrete mixer, water pumps, and cutting torch;
- Respond to emergencies as required providing traffic control or barricades; sanding bridges; cutting and removing fallen trees; removing debris from roadways; and setting out signs;
- Train employees on safe and proper usage of light and heavy-duty equipment;
- Complete employee evaluations;
- Perform other related duties as assigned;
- Subject to 24 hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and
a minim of five (5) years relevant experience are required
Class A or B CDL Required
