CLASS CONCEPTSummary: The swim instructor’s responsibilities include evaluating each student’s performance during swim sessions and providing feedback, completing attendance, progress, and accident reports, and ensuring that all swimming aids and equipment are in good working order. The main responsibility is the safety of all students in our program at all times.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESInstructs children in swim lessons; maintains paperwork necessary for instructor documentation.Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills.An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.Responsible for proper instruction of all swim lesson classes.Maintain a safe and controlled environment; identify hazardous conditions and eliminate or minimize them.Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress.Adheres to posted job schedule.Punctual when reporting for duty, shows up no less than 15 minutes before the start of a class.Act in a professional manner at all times.Provide quality customer service.Communicates effectively with all levels of staff.Performs all other related duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
