EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
JOB SUMMARYThe Library Assistant provides essential support to ensure the efficient daily operations of the library. This role involves assisting patrons with locating and checking out materials, maintaining the organization and cleanliness of library collections, and helping users with basic technology needs, such as computer access and printing.WORK SCHEDULE2 seasonal Library Aides in Youth ServicesApproximately 25-35 hours per weekSchedule: Saturday, Sunday, and variable weekdaysESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Answers on-site, informational and directional type questions in person and on the telephone;Assists patrons in circulation related services, such as interlibrary loan requests, reserve books, filling out library applications;Assesses and collects fines for lost or damaged material;Examines materials for damage, does minor repairs, and cleans items;Assists in sorting and shelving library materials when needed; including in the Children's section;Assists patrons of all ages with logging onto computers; utilizing online resources; and operating Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel;Assists patrons of all ages in navigating library online catalog;Answers basic reference questions regarding the library's resources, including resources for children;Assists patrons of all ages with technology support including access to computers; use of online resources; use of computer software; and use of photocopier, scanner and fax machine;Attends meetings and training sessions;Performs security, light cleaning, and straightening tasks necessary to open and close the Library facility;Performs a variety of other office management functions;
