General Summary:
Administrative Assistant assists in the presentation of all criminal charges that are filed in Harris County. The administrative assistant will provide assistance to officers as they enter their charges into the system for both in-custody and no arrest charges. Once the charges have been reviewed by the Assistant District Attorney, they are returned to the administrative assistant to be reviewed for clerical and other errors. Once the administrative assistant has completed the review, they will sign off on the charges and return them to the Assistant District Attorney for signature and filing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Administrative Assistant shall answer the telephone, assist officers with charges when needed and refer all callers to the proper person.
- Once the administrative assistant becomes competent in the assigned role, they will be cross-trained on other Intake administrative assistant responsibilities.
- Upon successful completion of the initial probationary period, the administrative assistant will have an opportunity to volunteer for paid overtime shifts when available.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A successful candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to operate basic office equipment, and have strong organizational skills in maintaining records and files.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate attention to detail, work in a fast-paced team environment, and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Required Education/Experience:
- Must have High School Diploma.
- Three years office or criminal justice experience.
Hours:
- Night Shift from 12a.m. to 8a.m. on Monday – Friday
- Evening Shift from 4p.m.to 12a.m. on Monday - Friday
Salary (Starting):
- $27.66 hourly/$4,794.40 monthly/$57,532.80 annually – Night Shift
- $24.22 hourly/$4,198.13 monthly/$50,377.60 annually – Evening Shift
