What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and coordinate with staff who are advancing an event or meeting to keep the Commissioner briefed prior to and upon her arrival.
- Prepare and review the accuracy and completeness of engagement briefs, memos, speaking notes and packets for completeness.
- Continuously assess and address the needs to ensure engagements, meetings and daily meetings run smoothly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with various internal county departments, external agencies, community members, and individuals on a wide range of projects, meetings, and events.
- Maintain regular communication with the Administrative Manager regarding daily activities and updates from different divisions.
- Maintains the 311 service requests, routes all requests to the appropriate area for handling.
- Maintains the scheduling email and routes all requests to the Administration Manager.
- Provide support on special projects from the Chief of Administration.
- Prepare and coordinate certificates for events or meetings as needed.
- Provide support on Commissioners’ Court days.

Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of two (2) + years of administrative or office support experience, preferably in a government, a public-facing role or executive level.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and balance numerous projects in a fast-paced and changing environment.?
- Possesses strong analytical skills for developing messaging on issues and evaluating strategic communications and media strategies on an immediate timeline.?
- Strong skills in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence such as calendar entries and emails to internal and external partners. ?
- The ability to work cross-departmentally and within multidisciplinary teams, think creatively, oversee projects to completion, and measure results.?
- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and initiative, is highly organized, and can achieve systematic delivery under tight deadlines.?
- Is proactive, innovative, and creative in developing solutions and completing assignments.?
- Has ability to develop successful working relationships with city, county and state government offices and staff of other elected officials at every level throughout Harris County.
- Ability to exercise flexibility in accommodating shifting priorities, demands and schedule.
- Availability to work evening and weekends, if requested. Ability to travel to different locations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with specific emphasis on Microsoft Excel for data organization, tracking, and reporting.

Preferences
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. (preferred)
- Prior administrative or office support in a government, a public-facing role or executive level. (preferred)
