The School of Health Professions is seeking an experienced and motivated Radiation Therapy Education Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree (master's degree or doctorate preferred), at least three years of clinical instructor experience, and five years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist. Must be ARRT certified in Radiation Therapy and hold certification in either Medical Dosimetry or MRI.

Instructing and assessing clinical courses and some didactic instruction in the Radiation Therapy program for students in the School of Health Professions.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Instruction of SHP Radiation Therapy (RT) students Teach classes, review examinations, procedures, and practices. Working with the program director and faculty, develops written course objectives and establishes learning methods. Creates effective lesson plans and supervises student participation in didactic and clinical courses. Documents the teaching/learning process and outcomes in accordance with standards and evaluates student's education to include competencies, clinical assessments, and examinations to evaluate students cognitive and technical knowledge and psychomotor skills in radiation therapy.

Educational coordination for SHP RT students Supervises student clinical education rotations and enforces policies and procedures. Collaborates with program directors, education coordinators, clinical instructors, and faculty to plan, implement, and evaluate clinical curriculum to include exercises, quizzes, interval exams, final written and practical exams, comprehensive final exams, and clinical competency to evaluate student knowledge and skills. Provides presentations and publications to educators, students, and peers. Integrates knowledge of accreditation standards, principles of RT instruction standards and current professional practice standards in the design of clinical and educational programs.

Administrative coordination for SHP RT students Participates in the evaluation of program effectiveness. Participates in candidate interview process. Participates in faculty/staff meetings, committees and student recruitment activities for the program and SHP. Provide strategic assessment of future SHP programs needs and planning. Other duties as assigned.

Rotation Schedules Develops student clinical rotations schedules and coordinates with other departments for clinical observations.

Mentors Mentors/coaches clinical instructors

Advising Participates in formal clinical and academic student advising.

Local Travel Travel to MD Anderson Houston area locations

Out of state travel Travel to MD Anderson RT Program Nation-wide locations

Applicant Advising Advises program applicants and schedules clinical site visits.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree

Preferred: Master's degree or Doctorate

EXPERIENCE

Required: Three years of relevant experience. May substitute additional experience for required education on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Graduate of a JRCET-accredited Radiation Therapy Program. Five years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist.

CERTIFICATION

Required: None

Preferred: ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy. Additional certification in Medical Dosimetry or MRI.

Onsite Presence: Is Required
