THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic Elementary Content Specialist with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.
To put it simply, you will ensure our students experience a rigorous academic program that increases achievement and better prepares them for college success by creating high-quality, aligned curriculum, assessments, data analysis, and professional development in your content area.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
Exemplary Teaching
- Modeling effective teaching practices on a campus or campuses;
- Directly and positively impacting student achievement in your content area;
- Developing, refining, and sharing best practices and curricular resources through regular application and reflection.
Curriculum and Resource Development
- Remaining up to date on standards, pedagogy, and assessment methodology for your content;
- Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective unit plans and key resources for designated courses in English and Spanish, setting a standard for rigorous and meaningful daily instruction designed to reach all learners, leading to strong system-wide academic results and support implementation of these resources;
- Working with Content Director to build strong vertical alignment across the content team that leads to college-readiness in your content area;
- Designing and maintaining systems for delivering high-impact instructional resources (e.g., reteach calendars, intervention supports, warm-ups) based on assessment data and campus needs;
- Collaborating with teachers and leaders to adapt district curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual and SPED students.
Assessment Writing and Data Analysis
- Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective, and valid unit/module and common assessments for all courses to monitor progress towards ambitious student achievement goals;
- Analyzing data from a range of assessments (diagnostic, interim, and state-level) to identify high-leverage TEKS and student misconceptions;
- Developing user-friendly reports and tools to help teachers respond to student needs in real time;
- Internalizing and utilizing up-to-date student achievement data to drive planning and support; communicate key takeaways and recommendations to teachers and leaders.
Support and Develop Fellow Educators and Leaders
- Planning, coaching teacher facilitators, and facilitating effective Content Days leading to teacher development and collaboration;
- Collaborating meaningfully with others, such as Special Education team members, Interventionists, and instructional leaders to ensure instruction and teacher support is aligned;
- Regularly designing and facilitating professional development sessions for teachers and/or instructional leaders;
- Building tools and systems for identifying students in need of instructional accommodations or supplemental aids (e.g., SPED, MTSS, 504) and supporting teachers in implementing those supports;
- Modeling how to analyze and respond to student data during campus planning meetings, PLCs, and coaching conversation;
- Additional duties as assigned.

MUST HAVES
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Bilingual Spanish (reading and writing)
- A minimum of 3 years of exemplary teaching experience
- Experience as a teacher or instructional leader in an elementary school environment
- A valid Texas Teaching certificate in content area
- Knowledge of current curricular and assessment strategies specific to your content area

- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457b Retirement Plan.
Paid Time Off – Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 15 days of Paid Time Off in addition to the system closures during the Academic Calendar.
