Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is looking to hire an competent and reliable Research Assistant II to manage day to day operations of projects for Dr. Jalal's research projects. This position requires conducting research experiments and overseeing multiple ongoing projects. The candidate will focus on research. It is the responsibility of this candidate to support the PI for various studies, existing and initiating new, to continue to support the College's Research Mission.

Job Duties

  • Assist with Grant Writing & IRB submission.
  • Conduct research experiments to help PI meet grant deliverables.
  • Consent, Collect and analyze data for several ongoing experiments, presenting weekly to PI.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study, and assist in publication.
  • Designs and implements new processes, procedures, tools, and training programs to improve the conduct of clinical trials, while performing quality assurance and quality control checks to ensure compliance and data integrity across study activities.
  • Plans, directs, and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Supervise and mentor junior trainees and staff, as delegated by the Principal Investigator, including oversight of specific projects and support for individuals needing assistance with particular research activities.
  • Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
  • Defines problems and possible solutions.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • May assign activities to less experienced research staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
