    Primary Purpose:
    Responsible for duties for Agriculture Science Center.
    We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative person to plan, develop, and manage a multi-faceted agricultural enterprise program housed at the school’s Ag Science Center. This individual will play a pivotal role in establishing and growing a variety of public-facing enterprises. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in Agricultural Science with a passion for entrepreneurship, program development, and hands-on instruction. This is a unique opportunity to build a dynamic, industry-aligned program that provides students with real-world experiences and pathways into various sectors of agriculture and animal science.

    Qualifications/Skills:
    Education/Certification:
    • Valid teaching certification in Agricultural Science or the ability to obtain certification.
    • Industry certifications in agriculture, animal science, or floral design (e.g., Veterinary Technician, ASE, AAS, or other relevant certifications) preferred.
    • Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Strong understanding of agriculture, animal care, and veterinary science practices, including small animal grooming and floral design.
    • Ability to develop and manage a school-based business or enterprise, including financial planning, marketing, and customer service.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills.
    • Background in entrepreneurial ventures or business management in an educational or technical context preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with an entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Enthusiasm for mentoring students and guiding them through career pathways.
    • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt in a dynamic, evolving field.
    Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in agricultural science and related fields.
    • Experience with or willingness to learn about business planning and management within an educational context.
    • Experience managing agricultural or farm-based enterprises in a school or community preferred.
    • Experience with work-based learning programs, internships, or school-to-work initiatives preferred.

    Major Duties and
    Responsibilities:
    Enterprise Management and Farm Operations:
    • Oversee daily farm operations, including the management of district livestock, district crops, and the Ag Science Center infrastructure.
    • Develop and implement an enterprise business plan including strategies for operation, sustainability, financial projections, and marketing.
    • Establish and manage the Veterinary Science Small Animal Grooming and Floral Design enterprises, ensuring each aligns with industry standards and provides hands-on student experiences.
    • Develop pricing models and operational procedures for all farm-based enterprises.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry partners, and community organizations to support the program’s growth and sustainability.
    • Oversee the enterprise budgets, including securing funding, sponsorships, or grants to enhance program development.
    • Foster a safe, professional, and realistic environment for students, encouraging entrepreneurship and leadership skills.
    • Submit and follow up on repair and maintenance requests for the Ag Center. Meet district maintenance personnel upon arrival if necessary.
    • Daily work schedule will vary and may not reflect traditional teacher contract time.
    Curriculum Development & Instruction:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, hands-on enterprise curriculum for agricultural science, veterinary science, animal grooming, and floral design in conjunction with Ag Science Instructors.
    • Create and collaborate with instructors on skills-based lab activities, assignments, and assessments aligned with industry standards and student learning objectives.
    • Periodically review and update enterprise course content to reflect current industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
    • Provide collaboration and support with other faculty and staff.
    • Establish a culture of high standards for student performance and program quality.
    Student Recruitment & Program Marketing:
    • Develop and implement strategies for recruiting students into the Agricultural Science program.
    • Create promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and videos that showcase the program’s curriculum, industry opportunities, and student success stories.
    • Collaborate with high school counselors, school leadership teams, and the district's marketing team to ensure effective communication and awareness of the program.
    • Organize information sessions, open houses, and tours for prospective students and families to highlight the facilities and real-world learning opportunities.
    Work-Based Learning & Internship Development:
    • Identify and create internship, apprenticeship, and work-based learning opportunities with local businesses, farms, animal shelters, and floral design studios.
    • Manage a system to track student work experiences, internships, and progress towards career-readiness.
    • Guide and mentor students to develop skills in agriculture, veterinary sciences, animal grooming, and floral design.
    • Ensure students gain meaningful, hands-on experience through partnerships with industry professionals.
    Collaboration & Community Engagement:
    • Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and local industry professionals to integrate agriculture and animal science programs with other district curricula and initiatives.
    • Attend community events, career fairs, and industry conferences to build relationships and raise awareness of the program.
    • Partner with local businesses to support program growth through internships, work-based learning, and recruiting efforts.
    • Engage with the communication division and social media platforms to highlight program milestones, student achievements, and community impact.
    Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:
    • Regularly assess program effectiveness through student feedback, industry partner evaluations, and program outcomes.
    • Adapt and enhance course materials, teaching strategies, and business operations based on feedback and industry trends.
    • Ensure the program meets industry standards and accreditation requirements, including certifications in agriculture, veterinary science, and floral design.
    Ag Center Safety Liaison:
    • Work under the guidance of The Guthrie Center Safety Officer to monitor and maximize safety compliance at this location.
    Other:
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Computer, ACTIV Board, copy machine and audio-visual machines.

    • Maintain emotional control under stress.

    • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
    Physical Demands:
    • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing (ability to lift up to 50lbs)
    • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desk, and other classroom equipment.
