Please review the following job description:

A Geologist who can work with investment bankers, A&D engineers/geologists, and clients to contribute to the success of the firm. This is an opportunity to work within the Truist Energy Investment Banking Team and work directly on Upstream and Midstream A&D transactions. Provide geoscience and technical support for E&P/Midstream A&D project execution and business development. Create and present geological content, including subsurface maps, cross-sections, petrophysical analyses for pitch books and data room presentations.

Responsible for providing client relationship management and investment banking services including strategic advisory services to corporate and private equity clients related to buyside and sellside M&A, debt and equity capital raising, designated by industry/sector. Industry coverage includes industrials, financial sponsors, consumer and retail, healthcare, financial institutions, energy, and technology, media and telecom. Senior investment banking professionals are expected, over time, to generate a balanced mix of M&A, debt and equity capital raising of $7 million to $30 million subject to the attributes of their sector coverage. In addition, senior investment banking professionals are expected to "sell the bank" by appropriately positioning the banks treasury and payment solutions product suite as well as floating rate and F/X, private wealth, insurance and other services. Senior investment banking professionals are also expected to serve the bank's corporate banking and commercial clients with strategic advisory and the aforementioned traditional investment banking services in partnership with the primary Commercial and Corporate Banking coverage professionals.

1. Plays an integral role in supporting new business development, due diligence, and/or transaction execution
2. Independently performs tasks assigned and managed by senior staff, including drafting internal and external documents and marketing materials, executing transactions, as well as working with clients, attorneys, investors, interested parties and/or other senior professionals on a day-to-day basis
3. May coach and mentor Analysts or Interns

Required Qualifications:

1. BA/BS degree

2. Minimum of 6 years of related work experience
3. Strong knowledge of investment banking, market, industry sector, and/or financial products
4. Mastery of financial and accounting concepts to facilitate the creation or review of in-depth financial models involved in transactions
5. Strong organizational and leadership skills
6. Advanced skills in written and oral communications, and interpersonal relationship management
7. Solid analytical and sales skills


Preferred Qualifications

1. MBA degree, with a Finance focus
2. 8+ years of related work experience
3. Experience in mentoring and coaching

  • Multi-basin subsurface geological experience within L48 Unconventional Plays including Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken, Anadarko, Haynesville, and Appalachia required.
  • MS Geology/Earth Science degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 5 - 8 years of petroleum geology experience; energy investment banking, energy private equity or A&D experience within E&P/Midstream operator.
  • US L48 onshore geological experience within major plays including Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken, Anadarko, Haynesville, and Appalachia.
  • Geological and Technical software experience required: Petra, Geographix, Petrel, Enverus ESS, Spotfire, ArcGIS, Excel and Access preferred.
  • Candidate must be commercially oriented and understand the fundamentals of cash flow and economics.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Position will require SIE, Series 79, and 63 licenses

  • The annual base salary for this position is $200,000
