Position Summary:
The Lab Manager will be responsible for executing day-to-day lab operations, including, but not limited to: ordering study materials, maintaining the lab space, technology, and online presence, and processing lab-related and travel expenses. This position will also coordinate logistics of ongoing research projects (e.g., drafting IRB applications and pre-registrations; leading targeted study recruitment efforts; handling participant remuneration; facilitating lab studies end-to-end). Additional duties include managing a team of undergraduate research assistants, including, but not limited to: recruiting team members, training research assistants to enact study protocols, and leading weekly team meetings.

This is a one-year term limited position with the possibility of extension based upon need and available funding.

Salary: $22.13 / hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in one of the major sciences
    • In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
  • 1+ year of experience in research work
    • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted

Skills:

  • Ability to set work priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex instructions
  • Knowledge of best practices for a research lab
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to be proactive and take initiative
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, or a related field
  • Experience presenting research findings at regional and national conferences
  • Experience preparing and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience mentoring and supervising undergraduate research assistants

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day technical operations in the lab
  • Coordinates all aspects of the processes
  • Procures research materials and supplies for the laboratory
  • Ensures and promotes lab safety and routine laboratory hygiene
  • Maintains laboratory apparatus and equipment
  • Supervises research technicians and students in the lab
  • Trains students regarding research techniques
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
