Job Summary
Position is responsible for data collection and research support utilizing Memorial Hermann Hospital System research protocol review and approval process in accordance with Memorial Hermann Hospital System policies and procedures for assigned clinical research studies conducted within any Memorial Hermann facility. Responsibilities include all aspects of study coordination and management, as well as research program development.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED; College or technical training preferred
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Two (2) years experience in a health care setting with one (1) year clinical research experience preferred
Prior experience in data collection preferred and experience with informed consent procedures and regulatory compliance in research preferred
Ability to develop and maintain a systematic program of research recruitment and follow-up
Excellent organizational skills required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish preferred
Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel/Word/Power Point)
Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with patients/families and obtain informed consent and their cooperation with the research project
Ability to communicate with physicians, psychologists, and other social service providers in an ethical and professional manner in order to coordinate follow-up interviews
Ability to communicate and coordinate with other members of the clinical program regarding recruitment and tracking of research participants
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Available to work “off hours” to complete interviews (have a flexible schedule)
Principal Accountabilities
Performs duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the CQI process.
Collects and maintain data in accordance with national best practice and possess thorough knowledge of related research software and data entry procedures.
Maintains an organized system of recruiting, contacting, and scheduling research participants for assessment.
Determines eligibility of patients for inclusion in multiple research projects.
Schedules and conducts annual follow-up interviews and collect annual follow-up physical exam data, maintaining records of case status and patients lost to follow-up.
Meets the data quality guidelines set by the national database.
Meets data submission deadlines. Respond to quality control reports.
Assists the Principal Investigator with multiple research projects.
Tracks and locate patients due for follow-up and attempt to locate lost to follow-up patients and determine cause of death for expired patients.
Tracks and maintain certifications and authorizations for data collection (Department of Health).
Maintains rapport with study participants to maximize participation rates. Communicate with other health care providers in an ethical and professional manner in order to coordinate follow-up services.
Be familiar with and complies with HIPPA.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
