Position Overview:
As a core member of the Office of Planning and Innovation (OPI) leadership team, the Applied Analytics Manager leads a team of junior and senior analysts and provides data/evidence-based approaches that aid in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of HCPH programs and services.
The Applied Analytics Manager will also analyze and synthesize relevant information from public health literature, policy briefs, key informant interviews, community health assessments, and other public health-related data to develop graphs, charts, reports, maps, dashboards, and other data products to support OPI and HCPH projects and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and leads a team to develop analytical data products used to inform and communicate public health planning, integration, and monitoring efforts.
- Responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing analytical data products that support OPI and HCPH projects and programs.
- Conducts research, analyzes data, reviews literature, and effectively communicates recommendations to internal teams, as well as leadership.
- Builds team analytical skills and engagement through continued support, feedback, and team/workflow management.
- Holds a portfolio of internal/external data analysis activities that support and inform strategic planning, needs assessments, as well as performance monitoring and evaluation of HCPH programs.
- Develops well-crafted presentations and reports as needed.
- Identifies and/or develops trainings and other educational tools to advance team technical skills.
- Other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in public health, Public Administration, Public Policy, Data Analytics/Science, or a closely related field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in public service, public health, public policy, data analytics, or a closely related field.
- At least five (5) years of experience working with data and building data products to inform decision making.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of public health practice, including health equity and quality improvement principles.
- Knowledgeable about public health planning and design models, methods, tools, and techniques.
- Ability to conduct research, identify and understand data, and translate data into information for decision making and recommendations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and work independently on time-sensitive projects.
- Ability to solve a variety of complex problems in the absence of technical guidelines and when creative thinking is required.

General Information
- This is a full time position.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- May require periodic overnight travel and long hours/overtime during emergencies/disasters.
- Work environment is typically in an office environment but may require infrequent travel and interaction with the community at public events.
- This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
