Universal Services is the enterprise IT solutions center for the departments and offices of Harris County, providing Information Technology, Public Safety and Justice Technologies, 311 Constituent Engagement Services, Fleet Services, and Records and Information Governance Services.

Position Overview:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for basic to complex task typically relating to modem and Radio installation and or maintenance on equipment on site or at remote locations
- Performs hands-on, diagnostic services and documentation on two-way mobile and portable radios and process radios for depot and radios returned from depot.
- Supports walk in and drive-up customers as needed.
- Performs land mobile radio subscriber template design and subscriber layout.
- Performs mobile and portable radio programming using manufactures proprietary software.
- Performs frequency and specification alignment of mobile and portable radios.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1 year of radio installation experience.
- Must possess good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- The ability to interact with staff at all levels.
- Strong knowledge of personal computers and various software, specifically Microsoft Office.

This applies to any position with network access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) or access to an area where CJIS is received, maintained or stored either manually or electronically (i.e. custodian, maintenance).
Automatic Disqualification:
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years
- Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
- Family Violence conviction

Preferences
- An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field preferred.

- Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Onsite 5 days/week
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. and/or move boxes and equipment as needed.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching are needed to perform the essential functions.
- Must complete FEMA NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 training within 1 year of hire.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- May be required to work more than forty hours during the workweek or on weekends special projects or Public Safety events/incidents.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
