Job Summary:

In this role Product Owner, Market Data Onboarding, acts as the business-facing leader responsible for defining, prioritizing, and driving the onboarding of data from a specific market or domain into the enterprise Data Fabric. This role partners closely with the Director of Data Acquisition, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that business objectives, data needs, and operational realities are clearly understood and effectively translated into data onboarding strategies and deliverables.

As a key voice of the business, the Product Owner owns the intake, alignment, and prioritization of onboarding efforts—ensuring that data from market-facing systems is integrated in a way that maximizes business value, aligns with enterprise standards, and supports data-driven initiatives across analytics, operations, and AI capabilities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own the Market Onboarding Product Vision: Define and champion the strategic vision for onboarding data from a specific market, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, Data Fabric capabilities, and stakeholder needs.
  • Represent the Voice of the Business: Act as the primary liaison between market business units and the data onboarding team—gathering requirements, surfacing priorities, and ensuring business objectives are well represented in onboarding deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Business Domain Data Owners and Stewards to define critical data elements, standard definitions, data quality requirements, and support ongoing change management and remediation efforts for Market data assets.
  • Prioritize and Sequence Onboarding Efforts: Lead the prioritization of data sources based on business impact, strategic value, technical readiness, and interdependencies to ensure optimal sequencing of onboarding.
  • Define Product Requirements and Roadmaps: Guide the creation and management of product roadmaps, epics, and backlogs for onboarding data from the assigned market/domain; work closely with acquisition, governance, and engineering partners to drive execution.
  • Support Business Readiness and Adoption: Ensure that market stakeholders understand how onboarded data will be consumed and leveraged; support training, onboarding, and feedback loops with data consumers.
  • Continuously Improve the Onboarding Experience: Collect feedback, track business outcomes, and identify enhancements to onboarding processes and services from a business perspective.
  • Monitor and communicate business facing KPIs, such as time-to-onboard, data usability, business adoption, and stakeholder satisfaction—to inform prioritization, identify pain points, and drive continuous improvement of the onboarding experience from a business perspective.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science or relevant degree with proven Sysco experience.

Education Preferred:

Advanced degree from a top tier educational institution

Experience Required:

Proven experience (typically 5+ years) data product ownership, data strategy, or business-facing roles in an enterprise data environment or related role, or equivalent experience with current and past roles within Sysco with a track record of leadership and achievement.

Experience Preferred:

Proven track record of leading data-related product initiatives or services, ideally involving onboarding, integration, or platform enablement.

Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data concepts, including metadata, governance, quality, privacy, and data lifecycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluency interfacing with both technical and business leadership teams
  • Strong executive presence, ability to influence others, and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Superb story telling ability to simplify complex topics and articulate clear solutions
  • Experience shaping enterprise strategies and working with senior leadership and peers to drive alignment
  • Possesses business and technical leadership fluency, gravitas to influence direction, and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to take an ambiguous problem and develop a structured and logical solutions
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and guide the organization and team through it towards clear and decisive action plans
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Confluence, and product road mapping
