Description:
Job Summary
The Database Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, support, and optimization of enterprise database systems, including but not limited to SQL Server and Oracle. Responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, performing regular backups, managing capacity, troubleshooting performance issues, and implementing upgrades as needed.
Duties
- Maintain production, test, and development databases to support enterprise applications and user needs
- Troubleshoots and resolves database and application related issues promptly
- Participates in new database projects as needed
- Installs, configures, upgrades, and patches databases and related application software
- Monitors database performance and takes proactive measures to optimize efficiency
- Facilitates communication between teams for planning and coordination
- Ensures database integrity, security, and compliance with policies and standards

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
- Relevant certification such as Microsoft Certified: MS SQL Database Administrator, or Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing both SQL Server and Oracle database environments
- Knowledge of database automation, monitoring tools, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and backup strategies
- Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms such as Azure SQL
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of trends, tools, and best practices in database administration and management
Skills:
- Proficiency in administering SQL Server and/or Oracle databases
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in resolving complex technical issues
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical, comfortable interior office environment, with minimal exposure to unpleasant elements or physical risks
- Expected to always carry and respond to cell phone at all times
- May be asked to respond to problems or provide service after hours, including weekends and holidays
- Must have precise hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Ability to distinguish colors may be required for certain tasks
