With approximately 1.17 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One’s multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American, 38 percent Latino, 21 percent Anglo, 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races. Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct’s territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks, 10 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- You will ensure efficient operations, quality work measures, and help comply with relevant industry, Precinct, and County safety standards, policies, and procedures. Communicate constituent concerns in a concise and consistent manner that can be universally understood by Precinct personnel.
- Use and interpret data. Conduct investigations and identify problems with data. Resolve issues or provide resolutions. Utilizes a combination of system reports to present data in a meaningful (infographics, charts, and graphs) and readily accessible format for managers and staff to produce efficiencies and aid in the development of annual operations & maintenance and capital budgets.

Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Three (3) years of relevant road & bridge experience
- One (1) year of CRM or other relevant County software programs experience (i.e. EBuilder)
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications which could include Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Share Point
- Valid Driver's License (State of Texas)

Knowledge of database development and management.

Knowledge of Road & Bridge Infrastructure maintenance practices

Skilled communicator both verbally and written, sometimes under stressful conditions with constituent complaints.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to solve complex problems.
- Ability to lead the Precinct's adoption of new software applications.

General Information
Position Type:
- Full-time | Regular
- Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At times after hours and weekend work is required
- This job operates in an office and in an outdoor environment during various weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
- This is a physically active position which may require exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

About the Road & Bridge Sub-division
The Road & Bridge Department’s mission is to offer, a responsive public service while executing a high level of maintenance on Precinct One roads, bridges, hike and bike trails, and county right-of-ways to improve mobility and the quality of life for the constituents of Precinct One.
