Position Summary

Under the direction of the I.T. Manager, this position acts as a systems administrator for most information security systems. They manage end user issue resolution, risk, are a key team member for improving information systems, and are primary contact for all information systems issues. This position is one of three team members that work in I.T.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The daytoday operations of the company’s information systems: directs and performs hardware and software upgrades and repairs for networking, printing, servers, workstations and SAN.
  • Implements all IT policies for the company. Assists with IT policy creation and revision.
  • Performs necessary steps for deploying updates; and installs client software for users.
  • Assists staff and outside users with difficult applications problems; and responds to and resolves end user technical problems regarding equipment, and software performance and capabilities.
  • Provides input into the evaluation of new technical proposals to determine their appropriateness and compatibility to the company’s operation.
  • Maintains and improves asset management for IT hardware and software.
  • Maintains and improves regular written and inperson communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Maintains, validates, and updates a consistent backup and disaster recovery plan.
  • Maintains an adequate level of knowledge of operating systems and applications to support users.
  • Installs new software applications or hardware, coordinating assistance from third parties when necessary.
  • Exhibits and practices the Third Coast Way fundamental behaviors.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • College degree or certifications; experience in lieu of degree or certifications
  • Active Directory
  • Windows Desktop Troubleshooting
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • SMTP
  • Implementation of User and Service Accounts using least privilege access
  • Comfortable with Windows command line
  • Basic Network troubleshooting

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 24 years in IT or Software related
  • Knowledge of Chemical and Packaging industry is a plus

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision on individual tasks, as well as teamoriented tasks.
  • Ability to organize competing tasks and set priorities with minimal supervision while raising awareness to issues or conflicts before it impacts deadlines and goals; must know when to work independently and when to escalate.
  • Maintain and update current virus protection on all Windows devices.
  • Manage user (Administrator and end user) and system level accounts for Windows systems.
  • Indepth knowledge of/experience with core Microsoft technologies/implementations to include Active Directory Domain Services, Domain Name Services, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted system administration methodologies, tools, techniques and desire to instill these practices in both individual and teammates’ work.
  • Available for afterhours work including but not limited to Change Management deployments; oncall for outages; and proactively monitor email communication.
  • Strong inner desire to improve self and information systems.

Physical Requirements

  • 100% Office Setting, including sitting, carrying computers and IT equipment, some bending, walking and viewing.
