About Houston-Galveston Area Council

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?

ü Serve as the primary point of contact for all grant-related activities, acting as liaison between the granting agency and the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Gulf Coast Workforce Board.

ü Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.

ü Collaborate with leadership and program staff to develop proposals aligned with organizational priorities.

ü Coordinate service delivery activities in collaboration with local partners and internal program teams to ensure effective and timely implementation of grand-funded initiatives.

ü Administer and manage federal grant programs in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.

ü Train and support program staff on grant requirements and allowable activities.

ü Develop and maintain grant records, timelines, and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

ü Assist with monitoring of subrecipient compliance through site visits, desk audits, and performance reviews.

ü Track budgets, expenditures, and financial reports to ensure proper allocation and use of funds.

ü Provide technical assistance and training to subrecipients and internal staff regarding grant compliance and reporting requirements.

ü Assist with the preparation and submission of required financial and programmatic reports to federal agencies and other stakeholders.

ü Collaborate with program teams to support performance monitoring and outcome reporting.

ü Facilitate the grant application processes, including proposal review, scoring, and award documentation.

ü Support grant closeout procedures and ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timely.

ü Stay current with federal grant regulations and best practices in grant administration.

Key Qualifications

ü Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

ü Exceptional organization and project management skills.

ü Previous experience drafting and managing contracts or grant administration is a plus.

ü Exceptional attention to detail.

ü Ability to analyze, interpret and present strategies, leading to successful deliverables and outcomes.

ü Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and SharePoint.

ü Able to thrive in a faced paced environment.

ü Able to work independently while maintaining effective time management skills.

Do you have…

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study

ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties

Qualifications

ü Experience in grant administration or related field, preferably involving federal funds.

ü Strong understanding of federal grant regulations, especially the Uniform Guidance.

ü Experience working with pass-through entities and managing subawards.

ü A certification in Grants Management (CGMS) or similar credential.
