Superior Completion Services is excited to be seeking a Design Engineer Manager for our Completion Office in Houston, TX.
Summary:
The Design Engineering Manager will oversee the Research, Design, and New Product Development Groups responsible for the development, qualification, and engineering maintenance of completion tool products. In their role, they will be responsible for planning and coordinating department activities between department staff and external contractors, while ensuring the technical goals of all project teams are met on time and on budget. This position is responsible for the implementation of engineering standards and best practices, and communicates regularly with clients and management.
The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, able to work in a quick-paced environment, and will be responsible for: planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives of assigned development projects to ensure project completion within agreed Statement of Requirements, product standards (industry, customer, and internal), project timelines, and budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design, implementation, and/or project management of completion tools for the downhole oil and gas industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the execution of product development projects by subordinate engineering teams.
- Responsible for the allocation of engineering resources to achieve project goals.
- Manages the planning and timelines of department projects.
- Delegates responsibility of projects and tasks to appropriate teams, coworkers, and/or contractors to ensure effective project completion.
- Develop and maintain department budget.
- Monitor project performance and analyze completion of key goals.
- Provide leadership and recommendations to the department’s Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, operations, and product development.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with the design and/or implementation of completion tools and systems in the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge, competency, and experience in the practical application of mechanical engineering practices.
- Working knowledge of core products and current practices, technology, and materials used in the oil and gas industry.
- Fully proficient in MS Office software.
- Fully proficient in MS Project or other planning software.
- Proficient at reading engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with manufacturing techniques.
- Familiar with reliability engineering.
- Familiar with deepwater (subsea) operations.
- Proficient at developing and managing engineering development project timelines.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required.
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering in the oil and gas industry is required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the management and/or supervision of employees is preferred.
