POSITION SUMMARY

The CTE Teacher will play a pivotal role in supporting the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program's success by assisting in student recruitment, curriculum development, instructional planning, and fostering partnerships with employers. They will also provide students with appropriate instruction, learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in student recruitment and promotion of CTE program of study.
  • Collaborate in the planning process for development of, and/or modifications of curriculum as needed.
  • Promote college credit courses, apply to teach dual enrollment if applicable.
  • Develop and implement instructional plans which allows for all students to meet established standards of student achievement focusing on basic workplace and job specific skills in preparation for career placement.
  • Develop and maintain positive contacts with potential employers to assist with job placement.
  • Develop program goals and objectives and derive appropriate methods for translating these into student performance competencies.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning environment conducive to learning.
  • Evaluate student academic growth; keep appropriate records on the progress of students toward meeting established standards of achievement and performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their growth and development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices, trends, and advancements in CTE education.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, exchange ideas, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the CTE program.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including parents, administrators, and advisory boards, to support the goals and objectives of the CTE program.
  • Maintain open communication with parents.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.
  • Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12
  • Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 8-12
  • Vocational Trades and Industry
  • Recommended experience in aviation such as Pilot Certificate, Airline Transport Certificate, Advanced Ground Instructor or Certified Flight Instructor certificate would be very helpful in teaching this course.

OHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and instructional materials/supplies.
  • This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
  • Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state’s department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.

  • Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and compliance
  • Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programs
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibility
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, and policies
  • Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills
  • Skills in written and oral communication, planning, and organization
  • Knowledge of current trends, methods, research, and technology in area of responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of assigned program and service area
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data
