Unleash Your Potential. We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team in Deer Park. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our systems and processes operate at optimal reliability while adhering to Lubrizol's core values and driving our commitment to innovation.

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing system performance and reliability. The successful candidate will engage in various problem-solving activities, leveraging technical expertise to address challenges effectively. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in evaluating problems, investigating issues, and driving innovative solutions within a collaborative team environment.


What You Will Do:

  • Conduct Equipment Risk Assessments
    Perform criticality screening and risk analysis to identify critical equipment and Balance of Plant (BOP) assets.
  • Develop and Implement Asset Strategies
    Lead the creation and execution of asset strategies aligned with equipment criticality and business objectives.
  • Support Reliability Planning
    Contribute to the development and execution of a 3-year Reliability Improvement Plan, focusing on asset availability, performance history, and reliability goals.
  • Design Maintenance Strategies
    Select and implement appropriate risk or failure management strategies. Develop Equipment Maintenance Strategies (EMS) for critical assets and generic EMSs for BOP equipment.
  • Optimize Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
    Collaborate with the PPM Coordinator to review and refine existing maintenance plans. Adjust PPM activities to eliminate low-value tasks and manage risk effectively.
  • Enhance Condition Monitoring
    Evaluate and apply condition monitoring technologies to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
  • Ensure Accurate Documentation
    Support proper documentation of PPM and corrective maintenance activities in the CMMS for effective analysis and tracking.
  • Monitor and Analyze Reliability Data
    Track asset reliability, maintenance trends, PPM outcomes, major reliability events, RCA findings, and production loss data.
  • Identify and Prioritize Reliability Opportunities
    Analyze production loss and cost data to develop and prioritize improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Root Cause and Reliability Studies
    Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies using tools like Weibull analysis and FMEA. Implement corrective actions based on findings.
  • Provide Engineering Support
    Conduct value engineering for projects, equipment selection, PMs, BOMs, and criticality assessments.
  • Integrate New Equipment
    Ensure new assets are incorporated into systems, tools, and maintenance strategies before commissioning.
  • Perform Gap Assessments
    Periodically assess gaps between reliability plans, EMS, and PPM strategies. Implement improvements to optimize performance and cost while managing risk.
  • Conduct Facility Audits
    Implement regular audits to proactively assess plant condition and prevent asset deterioration.
  • Optimize Spare Parts Inventory
    Support inventory optimization for spare parts and equipment in collaboration with the PPM Coordinator.
  • Champion Change Management
    Promote the use of Management of Change (MOC) processes for any modifications to equipment, materials, or procedures.

Skills That Make A Difference:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering; mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a maintenance or project engineer operating within a chemical plant.
  • Experience with applicable building codes with a NFPA-NEC, API, or ASME certification.
  • Background analyzing infrared surveys, oil, and vibrations.
