Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.
This position will report to the Manager of Structural Modeling, Design and Draft. This position is located in our Downtown Houston office and is Monday - Friday.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Structural Designer oversees the structural design and modeling efforts for complex projects across various sectors. You’ll be responsible for guiding a team of designers, ensuring quality deliverables and driving digital innovation in modeling and drawing automation.
Job Knowledge
Experience in large scale Petrochemical or LNG onshore project.
Work involves independent design or directing technical work of vendors/contractors, applying standard design details per ACI, AISC, PIP, OSHA and or client safety standards, applicable codes and industry standards which form the basis of design.
Leading a team of 10-20 designers local and overseas.
Will assist or review the cost estimates and quantity take-offs for on-going projects, proposals, forecasts, and change-orders.
Shall provide technical guidance to contractors/vendors and will generate sketches as needed.
Responsibilities
Experience with automated drawing generation with model-based QA/QC workflows.
Experience with Tekla Structures, S3D, & Navisworks.
Review Data from BIM models.
Review the submittal from EPC contractors & internal engineering team for Piling, Foundations, Module & Stick Built Steel Pipe Racks/Structures, and provide technical guidance & constructability review comment.
Reviewing, monitoring and ensuring compliance requirements are met for the design (e.g. Standards, specification, model, and local codes and regulations etc.)
Regularly performs reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
Develops and leads others in ways of improving the design and lowering cost.
Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis.
Manages several different assignments simultaneously.
Develop and enforce modeling and drawing standards.
In office 5 days week.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5 yrs experience or 10 yrs + experience in lieu of degree.
10-15 years' minimum relevant experience in refining and petrochemical industry, LNG Project, preferably with EPC experience.
10 – 25 years' experience in FEED design, engineering, fabrication, and construction.
Self directs work with limited supervision.
Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced designers and engineers.
