Job Summary
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing compelling campaign concepts and producing high-quality, engaging, and brand-consistent marketing copy across various platforms that strengthens customer relationships, drives product and program adoption and promotes and enhances the CenterPoint Energy brand. This role requires a strong understanding of marketing strategies and the ability to translate complex information into clear and persuasive messages for diverse audiences.
Essential Functions
- Develops creative campaign concepts aligned with marketing objectives and target audience insights.
- Writes, edits, and proofreads engaging and brand-accurate copy for a wide range of marketing materials, including digital ads, website content, email campaigns, press releases, brochures, and video scripts.
- Ensures all copy is optimized for clarity, impact, and calls to action.
- Collaborates with graphic designers, web developers, and other marketing professionals to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
- Conducts competitive research and stays informed about industry trends to inform content strategy.
- Manages multiple writing projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and project specifications.
- Participates in content strategy discussions and contributes creative ideas.
- Upholds CenterPoint Energy’s core values of Safety, Integrity, Accountability, Initiative and Respect at all times and in all work.
- Supports the Public Information Office by crafting crucial customer and public messaging or fulfilling other duties as assigned during emergency activations, which may occur after typical business hours, weekends, or holidays
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in marketing, copywriting, or content creation, preferably within a corporate or agency setting.
- Proven ability to develop creative campaign concepts and translate them into effective copy.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization.
- Ability to adapt writing style to different audiences and channels.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of successful marketing copy and campaign concepts.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time position based at CenterPoint Energy’s headquarters or designated office. Some travel may be required for community events, meetings, or training. Hybrid schedules (1-2) days remote may be available after completion of an initial probationary period.
