Position Details
- Manage legal teams, research laws, and advocate for grant eligibility
- Engage with and commit to building collaborative partnerships with underserved and underrepresented populations and communities
- Collaborate with the Center’s staff and community partners to develop and implement creative advocacy strategies to address community-identified environmental justice issues
- Supervise research, writing, and other work of non-legal staff
- Support conceiving programs and events
- Develop academic and other written products using environmental law expertise with a focus on clean energy and water justice
- Conduct legal research and writing experiences in environmental and climate and justice work
- Monitor and attend governmental hearings and other public meetings
- Develop community leadership and support community resident’s capacity to participate in public decision-making; prepare and provide community education regarding legal rights; and other duties as assigned
- Handle sensitive and or confidential information.
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong research knowledge in environmental and climate justice
- An interest in policy impacts is a plus
- Editing work of others as well as incorporating feedback
- Excellent legal research, analytic, and writing skills; experience
- Multitasking and time management
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
- Work well within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced academic environment, as well as, in community settings
- Exercises sound judgment, self-directed and demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- 3-5 years of experience
- Experience in the areas of environmental, climate, and energy justice, civil rights, or administrative law with a strong public interest commitment
- Experience with issues related to the environment, local governance, land use, planning, permitting, leadership development, or civil rights
- Limited standing and/or walking.
- Using or carrying equipment.
- Stoop, bend, or lift.
