Job Summary
Provides support for the various underwriting units including, but not limited to, reinsurance and pricing support, budget support, and providing key statistics and results to underwriting units.
Key Responsibilities
Relying on limited experience and knowledge, this role is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze claims and premium information in support of quarterly reserving, pricing, commutations and pool arrangements.
  • Analyze for other reserving related tasks, such as rating agency presentations, various annual statement schedules, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-required documents.
  • Analyze and evaluate various lines of business to project loss ratios for future business including producing full reports for underwriting, management, or reinsurers.
  • Analyze and inputting payment patterns for budget purposes.
  • Support merger and acquisition efforts as required.
  • Assist with actuarial reserving as required.
  • Create, populate, and revise models and spreadsheets used within the department and/or for actuarial reporting.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements
Education
Minimum
4 Year / Bachelors Degree
in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
Experience
5 Years
Relevant and progressive professional actuarial experience
Other
  • Possess and have ability to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company's business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
