Job Summary
Responsible for the strategy, development and implementation direction of overall financial management function within the organization. Provides financial direction for all divisions including: financial operational management, strategic growth, revenue cycle reporting, strategic development, financial projections, and capital planning. Works to ensure all applicable regulations, standards, are met. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to the organization, and partners with both campus and corporate leadership to accomplish system-wide goals. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics Business Administration or related field required; Master’s degree is preferred
Licenses/Certifications: CMPE, CPA, or related financial certification is preferred
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Six (6) years of financial management or administrative experience in a healthcare setting
Exceptional problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills; must demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to achieving customer satisfaction.
Computer literate: Microsoft Office competency required; clinical information systems is preferred.
Principal Accountabilities
Develops annual business plans, operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Leadership and Management teams.
Develops plans and objectives with Leadership, Management teams, and department staff regarding short- and long-range financial plans and programs in specific areas such as financing, budgeting, profit analysis, reporting, and internal auditing.
Works with Leadership and Management teams to develop and approve financial statements including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, variance analysis, and investment analysis; e.g., effects of fee changes on costs and profits, return on investment.
Attends a variety of meetings with management and department staff to review and discuss financial matters; leads the month-end reporting analysis and monthly operating review meetings.
Develops and supervises internal audit program to ensure internal financial controls are regularly tested and described.
Maintains contracting processes and records in coordination with corporate Legal services.
Assists in the development of both strategic and tactical organizational planning.
Assists in the assessment of acquisition, joint venture, and partnership opportunities as well as the development of integration plans.
Directs, forecasts, and analyzes special projects; e.g., proposed facilities, equipment purchases.
Presents strategic growth analyses related to organizational efforts.
Builds effective relationship with campus and corporate leaders to ensure cohesiveness.
Directs the development and creation of applicable dashboards to ensure performance management.
Directs the development and creation of applicable analyses related to payor strategies and effects on the group.
Directs the development and creation of applicable financial analyses related to each division of the organization.
Engages with relevant system stakeholders in the strategic growth related to the organization.
Leads the development to redefine the accounting/financial methodologies for the organization.
Evaluates acquisitions and de novo sites for financial feasibility.
Ensures a culture that embraces collaboration, continuous financial and operational improvement while recognizing and implementing initiatives to optimize operations and profitability.
Assists with the selection, training, retention, and counseling of departmental personnel.
Represents organization at key internal and external meetings as finance designee.
Mentors and develops strong finance team.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
