Description

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a Lower School Instructional Coach for grades K – 2 beginning August 2025.


All Lower School faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty, including a counselor, learning specialists, reading specialists, instructional coaches, an assistant division head, a division head, Associate Head of School for Academics, and the Associate Head of School for Student Support.


As with all faculty openings, we seek candidates eager to support our mission of preparing students to meet life’s challenges and lead tomorrow’s world through a superior educational program undergirded by faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and update grade-level scope and sequence and curriculum in all content areas in collaboration with classroom teachers

  • Research, model, and share curricular best practices by evaluating innovations and facilitating the appropriate use of technology in the classroom

  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance instruction by remaining current in instructional best practices and ensuring they are utilized in the classroom

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues across all levels and divisions

  • Observe classrooms to evaluate curriculums and strategies and report summary of visits to division head

  • Coordinate resources such as budgets and supplies

  • Support professional growth by determining needs, suggesting opportunities, and providing professional development during in-service days, divisional meetings, and parent association meetings

  • Actively participate in grade-level, divisional, and all-school team meetings

  • Develop and practice cultural competence in your teaching and teamwork

  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing

  • Work with the Communications Office to ensure academic descriptions in all marketing materials are current

  • Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for adults and students alike

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and self-reflection

  • Delight in teaching children in the elementary classroom

Qualifications and Skills


  • Successful completion of background checks and verification

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience

  • A minimum of two years in a curricular leadership role preferred

  • Masters in curriculum and instruction preferred

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • A positive and professional attitude with a willingness to collaborate and adapt

  • Creative and strategic thinking

  • Excellent judgment

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
