Description
We are searching for a Per Diem Trauma Education Coordinator — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will Create and coordinate centralized and decentralized staff development programs, performance improvement initiatives and special projects for the Trauma Program. Acts as a clinical expert and consultant for trauma nursing and injury prevention education to staff providing care to trauma patients. Providing education to outside hospitals related to trauma, trauma care and trauma transfers.

Responsibilities:
- Designs, Implements, Coordinates and Evaluates educational programs for staff caring for trauma patients.
- Collaborate with unit educators to schedule and monitor nurse residency orientation and progress.
- Performs departmental learning needs assessment annually and collaborates with leadership to create learning opportunities for all staff caring for trauma patients.
- Manages special projects and performance improvement initiatives for the department.
- Leadership with chart review.
- Creates and implements training programs focused on identified PI initiatives as evidenced by documentation and needs identified by leadership.
- Coordinates continuous state of readiness initiatives for department.
- Works closely with Quality and Outcomes Management to establish a proficient knowledge base of all regulatory agency standards and an expert knowledge base of key areas related to nursing and relevant standard changes as evidenced by attendance and participation organizational readiness committees.
- Provides and coordinates education across the continuum for staff managing trauma patients and coordinates community/EMS outreach and education. As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing Required
- RN - Lic-Registered Nurses Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact and TNCC - Cert-Trauma Nursing Core Cours Emergency Nurses Association Required
- ENPC-2 - Cert-Emergency Nurse Ped Course OR PALS - Cert-PALS Preferred
- 5 years clinical nursing experience Required
- Trauma and some leadership experience preferred
