The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Program Assistant - Suicide Care and Transformation to join our team.


The program assistant supports suicide care initiatives and Zero Suicide efforts within The Harris Center and with partner organizations and staff to support meeting strategic goals, providing suicide prevention training and assist with ensuring seamless implementation of evidence based best practices within the program. The program assistant will work collaboratively within the agency to ensure smooth communication, timely adherence to expectations and the efficient flow of information between the Zero Suicide team and its internal and external partners.


What you will do:

  • Maintains online and physical files for special projects going on within the department in an organized fashion
  • Assists in fact gathering and preparation of presentations and reports for grants and other projects
  • Assists in meeting planning, keeping calendar for internal and external efforts
  • Assists in keeping meeting minutes for meetings as necessary
  • Performs site visits within The Harris Center locations and its partners to meet the needs of offsite clinics in relation to special projects
  • Serves as a central point person for partners in suicide care and transformation work
  • Maintains inventory of special project supplies (educational materials, gifts, incentives, etc) and works in conjunction with department leader to keep appropriate par levels of needed items.
  • Will be required to travel to meet with partner organizations on site at their location within Harris County.
  • Helps formulate and prepare documents as needed related to special projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Director of Clinical Transformation and Innovation

What qualifications you will need:

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or General Education diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred.

Experience Required:

3 years of related work experience required
1 year administrative/professional experience preferred
1-year mental health experience preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook proficient,
  • Must have experience planning and communicating among various different groups and teams within
organizations
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Knowledge of safer suicide care practices preferred
  • Knowledge of justice system and considerations for justice involved individuals a plus
