Description
This position will oversee the financial reporting (analysis, forecasting, and budget preparation), payment coordination, accounting entries, bank validation and various ad-hoc projects for the Kinder Morgan Land/Right of Way (ROW) department, which is responsible for all land activities across KM’s 4 business units.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reports (O&M and Capex) for all business units including the analysis and variance explanations.
- Lead the preparation of the Long Range Outlook (LRO) – 5 year plan
- Annual budget preparation, analysis, and presentations
- Manage the team of lease analysts, whose duties include processing, forecasting and timely payment of reoccurring ROW payments, and maintaining the physical and electronic file of same
- monthly check printing process and review for accuracy
- Manage the daily support for field generated checks, including all associated check writing compliance requirements
- Manage the team of SOX separated positions in relation to bank access and Lawson entries
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of ROW Analysts
- Set expectations, coach employees, and drive accountability
- Derive and implement needed process improvements, including the associated management of change with all stakeholders and participants
- Ability to solve complex problems and provide solutions-oriented analysis
- Must have strong analytical, problem solving, research & reconciliation skills needed to resolve unknown or unforeseen events
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Finance / Accounting)
- 5+ years of Financial Analysis / Planning / Accounting experience
- 7-10+ years of Oil / Gas / Energy experience
- Excellent oral / written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organization
- Confident and approachable team leader
- High degree of initiative and ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Proven track record of working with multiple layers of management to perform multifaceted financial forecasting and analysis
- Effectively communicate results of any analysis in an accurate, clear and concise manner
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
- Managerial / Supervisory Experience
- Experience with Lawson financial systems
- Experience in Land/Right of Way, in house operating company experience a plus
- Advanced Excel skill set
