Under the general guidance of the Water Production Superintendent, this position supervises multiple employees and performs preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as emergency repairs, on water pumping stations and elevated storage towers. The position requires advanced troubleshooting skills related to pumps, mechanical systems, and electrical controls.This role is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and maintaining operations across 13 water facilities, including 9 booster pump stations and 4 elevated towers, supporting approximately 125,000+ residents and 39,000 active connections.This is a safety-sensitive and/or DOT position. The employee is required to participate in random drug testing in accordance with City policy.

Employees may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.Schedule and prioritize daily work assignments for subordinate personnelIdentify repair needs and procure materials for repair/replacement of equipmentTroubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs on electrical, mechanical, level control, and pumping systems associated with pumping facilities and water system equipmentSupport contractors and other departments during the design and construction of water infrastructure projectsCompile and analyze data from daily logs and operational activities to ensure pumping stations meet State regulatory requirementsReview construction plans and recommend changes for pumping station upgrades or new developmentAssist in budget development and trackingMaintain work order systems and other applicable softwareManage inventory of parts, tools, and equipmentPerform all other related duties as assignedRespond to after-hours emergencies and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately every 6–8 weeks).SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITES: Directly supervises employeesConduct ongoing maintenance and field training

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of: Pump operations and hydraulic troubleshootingIndustrial electrical controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and interpretation of electrical schematicsWater system components, including flow control valves, water wells, tank mixers, ground storage tanks, and elevated storage tanksSupervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systemsChemical feed systems Skill in: Pump and motor maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of water pumping equipment and facilitiesUse of SCADA, work order systems, and other maintenance softwareTime management and prioritization of workloadInterpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationshipsMicrosoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to: Use proper tools and equipment to perform mechanical and electrical repairs to water pumping equipment and building facilitiesFollow procedures for maintenance, asset management, and recordkeepingReview construction plans and recommend applicable changesCommunicate effectively and manage a scheduled workloadWork well in a team-oriented environmentPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.
