Description

Primary Purpose:

To maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment at the assigned Head Start center.


Qualifications:

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
  • Ability to safely utilize cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Experience:

  • Two years related work experience


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Model HCDE and Head Start’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Implement required safety practices in accordance with all department policies, division procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards and other local, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain indoor and outdoor facilities in a clean and operable condition.
  • Maintain sanitation and health standards when cleaning sinks, surfaces, floors and toilets.
  • Clean and properly dispose of waste, bodily fluids, and other potential contaminants.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of center maintenance and safety supplies.
  • Maintain appropriate health and safety documentation including center checklists and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Actively monitor the facility for health and safety hazards and inform supervisor of any needed facility repairs or potential hazards.
  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and documentation of children’s meals as needed.
  • Assist in the supervision of children when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
