What does the job involve?
Responsible for origination, trading and chartering activity associated with the organization's energy commodities and products. Responsible for book management, flow assurance, asset backed trading and chartering activity associated with the Equinor commodities. Responsibilities include book management, physical and paper trading and use of financial instruments to capture value above market price and development/execution of flexibility, third-party agreements, and transportation capacity (physical and virtual) to maximise returns.You are utilizing your knowledge independently to solve highly complex tasks with a short to medium-term tactical impact/risk. You address key business challenges that align with Equinor's short and long-term strategy via providing specialist support to your team and others. You independently communicate within the immediate team, across other areas, and towards key stakeholders from partners or external parties. You regularly navigate conflicting agendas and may lead negotiations with senior stakeholders. You resolve challenges, deliver improvements and contribute to shaping best practices. You promote change initiatives, demonstrate flexibility to adopt new highly complex activities/ways of working and advice others. What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
- Be part of Equinor’s global crude trading book, managing and executing trading activities.
- Select and execute appropriate trading strategies to deliver commercial outcomes in line with risk framework and trading mandates.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and develop and implement trading strategies to capture value above market price.
- Undertake financial trades and execute appropriate hedging strategies to generate short term returns and optimize trading outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Operations, Chartering, Risk, etc., to ensure effective communication and coordination in managing trading activities.
- Contribute in local and global team discussions to mature market views and trading plans.

Minimum 5+ years of relevant trading experience, 3 of which should be in crude trading.
Expertise with Market fundamentals of US onshore and export markets (supply/demand, quality, etc.).
In depth understanding of risk involved in deals, risk management skills.
Comprehensive understanding of underlying transportation/logistics and balancing mechanisms.
Thorough expertise with relevant derivative instruments (futures, swaps, etc.).
Extensive knowledge of price concepts & structure, hedging implementation, contractual constraints and legal framework.
Emphasis on teamwork – needs to be a team player.
