Position Summary
The Staff Accountant manages financial records, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, overseeing accounts payable/receivable, and handling premium tax payments. In addition, they use financial software, ensuring accurate documentation, collaborating with departments, and assisting auditors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank statements with company records to identify discrepancies and resolve any issues.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring payments and collections are made accurately and on time.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Review premium tax policies and manage premium tax payments and returns.
- Use financial software to efficiently manage financial data.
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for all financial transactions, including updating the general ledger and maintaining accurate account balances.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial management efforts.
- Assist external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for audits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in a financial role.
- Proficient in financial software applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Indepth knowledge of financial accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively under time pressure.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
