What you will do at Harris County Precinct 2
The Harris County Precinct 2 Marketing and Communications Department is seeking a skilled digital content creator and fully bilingual writer (English and Spanish) for Precinct 2's social media channels, newsletter, website, and other projects as assigned. The digital content coordinator is also responsible for scheduling social media posts and monitoring social media channels for activity and messages from followers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the creation of bilingual content for social media projects, website, and newsletter including but not limited to writing, content gathering, video editing, and designing graphics.
  • Scheduling social media content, monitoring of activity, and responding to comments and questions on platforms using Meta Business Suite and Sprout Social.
  • Organize and update monthly content calendar.
  • Support with the promotion of Precinct 2 events and services via digital platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends on existing and emerging social media platforms.

Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Experience:
  • One (1) year of experience in digital content creation or related field
Additional Requirements:
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required, including the ability to write, and communicate fluently in both languages.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours, some evenings and weekends.
  • A deep understanding of all major social platforms and trends including X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and management tools including Sprout Social
  • Ability to gather video and photo content using camera phone and DSLR camera
  • Ability edit digital content using tools such as Capcut, Canva, and Adobe Premiere
  • Strong writing skills in both English and Spanish
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Regualar - Full-time
  • Monday - Friday 9 - 5 PM. Some weekends and late evenings as needed.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • This position operates in both outdoor and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Noise level in the work environment is usually average. Field trips to active construction sites involving pervasive hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations; speeding traffic; loud and constant noise; and regular exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and combustible materials. Some working conditions require special precautions and the use of protective gear (e.g., hard hats, respirator masks, gloves, etc.).
  • This is a sedentary role which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Physical ability to sit, walk, lift, bend, climb ladders and stairs or stand for an extended period of time. Work in inclement weather as required.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
