Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of roadways and drainage structures. Assists in leading street and drainage crews to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
This is a safety-sensitive and/or DOT position. The employee is required to participate in random drug testing in accordance with City policy.
Job Functions
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed in this position. Employees may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Routinely operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, asphalt paver, maintainer, bulldozer, gradall, backhoe, mixer, crane truck, and boom mower.
Use equipment to level materials, excavate roadside ditches, and construct major outfall structures.
Perform manual labor as required to support street and drainage operations.
Complete daily work reports and related documentation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 3 years of experience in heavy equipment operation or in a related field
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
