Service Line: Houston Permitting Center
Reporting Location: Houston, TX
Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Practicing GREAT customer service skills.
- Assisting ALL customers to the best of your ability.
- Answers a multi-line phone.
- Records, logs, compiles and maintains various permit related files, data, documents, plans
and reports. - Scans and uploads permit documentation into the system.
- Communicate with customers via email, phone and in person.
- Understands the functions of all sections of Sign Administration/Building Code Enforcement
and responds to customer questions on procedure, application requirements and status of
permit application. - Recognizes permit system issues and submits Service Now Tickets and/or facilitates
remedies. - Monitors the Q-Flow Service Console.
- Performs other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. In the Houston Permitting Center, the position may require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as plans (up to 40 pounds).
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of experience as a Permit Technician Aide or in customer service are required.
An Associate degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
