DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier 1 Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mathematical functions as might be acquired through specialized training of up to nine months of education or training beyond the high school level. May require simple vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment.
EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of building or mechanical maintenance are required, or one year as an operator trainee and two years in building or mechanical maintenance. One year of directly related college or vocational education may be substituted for up to one year of work experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
PREFERENCES
Preference will also be given to candidates with:
Training and experience in the corrective and preventive maintenance programs related to equipment such as chemical feed systems and/or flow metering equipment. Such experience could include PVC plumbing and design, low voltage electrical knowledge, the calibration of analyzers, leak detection systems and flow meters, etc.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
