POSITION OVERVIEW
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the HITS Compliance Team in managing internal and external information requests, including Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) requests, litigation holds, eDiscovery, and other data/document inquiries.
- Collaborate with various City departments to collect, review, and validate information for compliance, legal, and operational needs.
- Provide support for internal and external audits, including audit preparation, coordination, and response management.
- Conduct compliance and system audits to ensure adherence to internal policies, applicable laws and regulations, and to align and be consistent with best industry practices.
- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and auditing of departmental compliance programs, policies, and procedures, including policy lifecycle management.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to data privacy and compliance; prepare reports, position papers, and briefings for leadership.
- Deliver regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership on compliance and legislative matters.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related topics and best practices.
- Analyze and manage large datasets to support business and compliance objectives.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including workflow automation, programming, and the integration and training of AI tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Job role may require occasional after-hours work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Business, Law, or a related field.
- Background in information technology, business operations, or legal/compliance work.
- Experience managing projects, particularly those involving technical components such as digital forensics, mobile device data, or data management.
- Familiarity with government operations at the municipal, county, or state level; or has worked for or with a governmental entity in Texas.
- Experience interpreting and applying legal, regulatory, or technical documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and present data effectively.
- Experience managing databases, large datasets, and meeting data-driven deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint) and the ability to quickly learn specialized software, including but not limited to, eDiscovery, audit management, forensics, information management, and archival tools and software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and conduct in-depth research.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy and professionalism.

Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
