STATUS & SALARY/FUNDING: Full-Time, Exempt, 12 Month Calendar

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Principal (AP) will support the Principal in the overall administration of the middle and high school campuses including but not limited to, instructional programs, operations, student behavior/discipline, and personnel. The AP will provide a high level of leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service while maintaining a positive campus culture and climate.
The AP will support the Principal in a variety of areas including but not limited to:

- Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Coordinate, plan, and assist accordingly in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, student activities and services, and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and all stakeholders.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
- Serve as second appraiser for designated teachers' appraisal system.
- Assist in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance personnel on follow-up investigations.
- Assist with the requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
- Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
- Share supervisory responsibility for campus staff.
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Display proficient levels of technology applications.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal)

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid Texas Administrators Certificate preferred.
- ILD and PDAS certification; T-TESS preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
- Minimum of 3 years instructional leadership experience.
- Experience in a public school district or charter, education service center, institution of higher education, or other educational setting preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations: personnel, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and office materials/supplies.
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
- This position may require prolonged or irregular hours.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the states department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.
