Qualifications:
Education and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Major coursework in behavioral sciences, social sciences, humanities, or a related field is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish, a plus
Special Knowledge/Experiences:
- Experience in school social work with middle or high school students, providing educational services preferred, or providing social services at juvenile probation, child protective services, or health and human service
- Knowledge of school social work direct and indirect services, case management, needs assessment, intervention supports, and records management
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, social and emotional learning, and family systems
- Experience working with others in a culturally diverse academic setting
- Knowledge of school-based/intervention procedures, student appraisal and post-secondary transition planning (workforce, vocational, college and career readiness, or military)
- Knowledge of positive behavior supports that improve student engagement in the classroom
- Understanding of mental illness and emotional components of physical illness, of casework principles, methods, techniques, and practice of social work
- Knowledge of dropout and prevention, developmental assets, and the eight dimensions of wellness
- Computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
Work Schedule Requirements:
- Be on call 24 hours a day for students
- Be able to work nights and weekends as necessary, in addition to a normal assigned schedule, in order to do student home visits and complete the necessary job requirements
Functions & Responsibilities:
Classroom Facilitation & Student Support Case Management:

Supervise and support classroom instruction in collaboration with the teacher.
Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment.
Provide individualized and group assistance with assignments and skill development. -
Monitor and encourage student engagement, punctuality, and attendance.
Build positive relationships with students and families to support learning. - Involve parents in the school to create positive academic and social outcomes for students.
- Listen to and respect the feelings and sensitivities of students and parents of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Case Management:
- Manage a caseload of students to meet academic, attendance and wellness goals
- Assist with student recruitment and ensure enrollment targets are met. Monitor and document student progress; complete all required student records.
- Assist in coordination of parent and student involvement in campus activities.
College and Career Readiness and Transition:
- Support completion of college and career interest inventories. Including but not limited to facilitating college and career interest inventories, application and financial aid processes.
- Facilitate the additional state mandated graduation requirements such as Interaction with Law Enforcement, CPR training and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Support the college and career financial aid and scholarship applications. Advise students regarding graduation and transitions.
- Enter data and monitor student progress on Student Management System (SMS).
School Wide Performance:
- Assist with/encourage student punctuality
- Ensure campus achieves student recruitment and enrollment goals.
- Ensure campus achieves student punctuality and attendance goals.
- Facilitate campus activities and events.
Social, Emotional, and Wellness:
- Provides referrals for health services, including vision, immunizations, and dental screenings.
- Address student and family needs related to g clothing, food, transportation, housing, and other community services .
- Provides positive behavior supports including establishing positive relationships with students and families, promoting schoolwide student activities, enhancing study habits, promoting prosocial school behavior, providing timely student advising, and addressing/supporting behavior referrals.
- Support special services by assisting students with challenges.
Other Duties:
- Identify barriers to student success and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
- Work with families and students in alleviating adverse conditions to promote resiliency and academic success for at-risk students.
- Assist parents in utilizing school and community resources to maximize their student’s educational abilities.
- Involve parents in the school to create positive academic and social outcomes for students.
- Listen to and respect the feelings and sensitivities of students and parents of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- This position requires meeting or exceeding specific student attendance, college and career, and wellness performance goals.
- Attend campus meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

None.
