Job Overview
Provide third level technical and project management expertise to ensure technology functions are in line with FBISD's goals and objectives; provide visionary insight to management in order to plan and integrate newly developed innovations into the Technology Department's long range plan. The position may address complex systems management processes and automation such as configurations, asset, problem, discovery, change, release, and security management.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Maintain current industry and vendor knowledge on AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare products
  • Provide support and/or implementation for all AD/Exchange and/or Server/SAN software and hardware; including but not limited to Microsoft Exchange 2003, Server 2003
  • Manage AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare throughout FBISD to ensure the control, reliability, and performance of all components
  • Monitor the overall integrity of the technologies and provide metrics for review
  • Design, prioritize, schedule and monitor assigned technical projects, developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans/schedules related to AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare related to installation, evaluation, and performance of these systems
  • Provide peer team members with guidance, assistance, and mentoring to help develop skills; ongoing review of processes, procedures, and documentation looking for and proposing changes that improve productivity
  • Define, design and implement solutions using various server, storage and computing platforms with a focus on AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare
  • Propose and implement systems enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
  • Work to define, order and install various hardware platforms including operating systems, applications, and possibly their databases
  • Analyze, acquire, install, modify and support operating systems, databases, utilities, and Internet/Intranet related tools. Conducts systems programming and systems support activities, such as new or revised program language code
  • Focus on AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare.
  • Provide input for improvements of processes currently in use and works with department management in evaluating upgrades and new initiatives
  • Provide documentation/project tracking and management required reporting

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in directly related job activities may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in troubleshooting and resolving high level, complex issues related to AD/Exchange and/or Server/VMWare software and hardware
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in developing and implementing processes and procedures
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in escalations and service delivery within a technical organization
  • High level skills in administering Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft Active Directory, HP Servers and VMWare
  • Must be client focused and have the ability to build a positive relationship between the clients, internal groups and technical organization

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. This position requires mobility to continuously move among computers and associated equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the classroom/administrative environment is moderate. All personnel in this position may be called upon to provide service and/or support at various times.
